This artwork by Thomas William Hammond achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2008. In the The Sunday Sale : The Langford Hall Collection, Nottinghamshire - Property of the late Mr & Mrs Patrick Radford auction, the work Sneinton Hermitage; and Trent Bridge, Nottingham each signed 'Hammond' (lower left) sold for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,588.14) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Thomas William Hammond; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The White Hart Inn; The Back of the White Hart Inn; Park Steps and Street Scene, Nottingham sold at auction in July 2008 with the realized price of GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,382.21).
