Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Postern Gate; The Bell Inn and High Street by Thomas William Hammond was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 187.50 (€ 238.22). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas William Hammond achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The White Hart Inn; The Back of the White Hart Inn; Park Steps and Street Scene, Nottingham in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,382.21).
