Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A drover and his cattle on a country track, beside a lake by Thomas Whittle was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 720.00 (€ 1,059.53). Admittedly, works by Thomas Whittle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work High Tor, Matlock in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 3,840.00 (€ 5,702.52).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A drover and his cattle on a country track, beside a lake von Thomas Whittle im Mai 2007 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 720,00 (€ 1.059,53) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Whittle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit High Tor, Matlock im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.840,00 (€ 5.702,52).
