In November 2006 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction British and Continental Pictures including Marine pictures, which included the work High Tor, Matlock by Thomas Whittle. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,840.00 (€ 5,702.52), 54% above the upper estimate. This high result makes High Tor, Matlock the most expensive artwork by Thomas Whittle that we have observed at auctions so far.
