This price was achieved in the auction British, Continental and Russian Pictures at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 600.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Webster - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Maternal Affection, which sold at auction in June 2001 for GBP 14,100.00 (€ 23,422.91).
