In April 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Shine? by Thomas Waterman Wood. The »bidding war« ended at USD 34,375.00 (€ 26,104.95), 72% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Waterman Wood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Arguing the Question in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 180,000.00 (€ 133,799.15).

Im April 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shine? von Thomas Waterman Wood zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 34.375,00 (€ 26.104,95) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Waterman Wood auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Arguing the Question im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 180.000,00 (€ 133.799,15).
