Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Thomas Rowlandson could be acquired at Christies in Paris in July this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve auction, the work Spanish Suitor changed hands for GBP 5,292.00 (€ 6,174.16) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Rowlandson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A gaming table at Devonshire House, London: Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, Harriet, Lady Duncannon, the Prince of Wales and others gambling in July 2017 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 97,636.56).
