Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Early British & Irish Paintings, which included the work Stormy Landscape by Thomas Roberts. The price achieved of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 278,589.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Roberts - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Sheet of Water at Carton Park, Co. Kildare, with the Duke and Duchess of Leinster out walking, and gardeners rolling a serpentine path in the foreground, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 454,750.00 (€ 729,706.05).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Early British & Irish Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Stormy Landscape von Thomas Roberts zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 265.250,00 (€ 278.589,68) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Roberts mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Sheet of Water at Carton Park, Co. Kildare, with the Duke and Duchess of Leinster out walking, and gardeners rolling a serpentine path in the foreground beobachtet, die im Mai 2000 für GBP 454.750,00 (€ 729.706,05) versteigert wurde.
