In May 2005 Christies in London held the auction THE IRISH SALE, which included the work A Wooded River Landscape With Travellers On A Bridge, Women Winnowing, And A Labourer By A Mill In The Foreground by Thomas Roberts. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 72,000.00 (€ 106,294.60), 44% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Roberts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Sheet of Water at Carton Park, Co. Kildare, with the Duke and Duchess of Leinster out walking, and gardeners rolling a serpentine path in the foreground in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 454,750.00 (€ 729,706.05).

Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Roberts auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Sheet of Water at Carton Park, Co.
