This artwork by Thomas Luny achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in April this year. In the The Marine Sale auction, the work H.M.S. Bellerophon leaving Torbay with the defeated Emperor Napoleon aboard, 26th July 1815 sold for GBP 8,925.00 (€ 10,171.59) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Luny achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Battle Of Copenhagen, 2Nd April 1801 in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 108,100.00 (€ 130,083.88).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Luny erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Battle Of Copenhagen, 2Nd April 1801 im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 108.100,00 (€ 130.083,88).
