Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A naval frigate struggling to get underway in a high wind, with similar activity nearby ahead of the approaching squall by Thomas Luny was sold in the The Marine Sale auction at Bonhams in London in April last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,550.00 (€ 3,040.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Luny achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Battle Of Copenhagen, 2Nd April 1801 in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 108,100.00 (€ 130,083.88).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A naval frigate struggling to get underway in a high wind, with similar activity nearby ahead of the approaching squall von Thomas Luny wurde im April letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Marine Sale bei Bonhams in London versteigert.
