Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The remains of The Old Palace of the Bishops of Winchester by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd was auctioned at Christies in London in August 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 250.00 (€ 282.33). Admittedly, works by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A crowded exchange; and Guildhall - Installation of the Lord Mayor (both illustrated) in December 2004 with an auction result of GBP 1,673.00 (€ 2,367.76).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The remains of The Old Palace of the Bishops of Winchester von Thomas Hosmer Shepherd im August 2011 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 250,00 (€ 282,33) den Besitzer.
