Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Christies in London held the auction 20th Century Evening Sale, which included the work Evening Concert by Thomas Hart Benton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500,000.00 – 2,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,623,000.00 (€ 1,487,898.79) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Hart Benton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nashaquitsa, which sold at auction in November last year for USD 5,580,000.00 (€ 5,405,405.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Evening Concert von Thomas Hart Benton zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500.000,00 – 2.500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.623.000,00 (€ 1.487.898,79) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Hart Benton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nashaquitsa beobachtet, die im November letzten Jahres für USD 5.580.000,00 (€ 5.405.405,41) versteigert wurde.
