Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Great Eastern Company's Screw Steam Ship "Great Yarmouth"; The Cutter Yacht "Dagmar", 36 Tons R.Y.S.; and "Xantha", 137 Tons by Thomas Goldsworth Dutton was sold in the Christie's Interiors auction at Christies in London in November 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,511.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Goldsworth Dutton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The English barque Spirit of the Age, which sold at auction in May 2010 for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,222.01).
