Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Paddle steamer and a schooner off a Coast by Thomas Goldsworth Dutton was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 750.00 (€ 538.83). Admittedly, works by Thomas Goldsworth Dutton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The English barque Spirit of the Age in May 2010 with an auction result of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,222.01).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
