Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Anglo-American Yacht Race round the Isle of Wight, August 25, 1868 by Thomas Goldsworth Dutton was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,361.42). Other works by Thomas Goldsworth Dutton have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2010 by the work The English barque Spirit of the Age at GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,222.01).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Anglo-American Yacht Race round the Isle of Wight, August 25, 1868 von Thomas Goldsworth Dutton im November 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.645,00 (€ 2.361,42) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Thomas Goldsworth Dutton wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Mai 2010 die Arbeit The English barque Spirit of the Age mit GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.222,01).
