In March 2008 Christies in London held the auction British Mezzotints and Printed Handkerchiefs from the Collection of the Honourable Christopher Lennox-Boyd, which included the work Portrait of a Gentleman, from Life-sized Heads, first series by Thomas Frye. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,884.37), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Frye achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Gentleman; And Portrait Of A Lady in April 2010 with an auction result of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 49,772.29).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen

Im März 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Mezzotints and Printed Handkerchiefs from the Collection of the Honourable Christopher Lennox-Boyd durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a Gentleman, from Life-sized Heads, first series von Thomas Frye zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.884,37) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Frye erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman; And Portrait Of A Lady im April 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.250,00 (€ 49.772,29).
