Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2012 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture Including the Collection of Dr. Mark and Irene Kauffman, which included the work Betty Reynolds by Thomas Eakins. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 22,500.00 (€ 16,874.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Eakins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cowboys in the Badlands in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 5,383,500.00 (€ 4,575,471.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2012 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture Including the Collection of Dr. Mark and Irene Kauffman durch, in der auch die Arbeit Betty Reynolds von Thomas Eakins zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 22.500,00 (€ 16.874,16) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Eakins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Cowboys in the Badlands im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.383.500,00 (€ 4.575.471,70).
