Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Thomas Burford achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2004. In the Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints auction, the work The Months of the Year (Chaloner Smith I 21) sold for GBP 1,434.00 (€ 2,134.22) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Thomas Burford; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Months of the Year sold at auction in June 2008 with the realized price of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,476.09).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Burford erzielte im Juni 2004 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints wurde die Arbeit The Months of the Year (Chaloner Smith I 21) für GBP 1.434,00 (€ 2.134,22) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 700,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Thomas Burford; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Months of the Year im Juni 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.476,09).
