This artwork by Thomas Burford achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2004. In the Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints auction, the work The Months of the Year (Chaloner Smith I 21) sold for GBP 1,434.00 (€ 2,134.22) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Thomas Burford; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Months of the Year sold at auction in June 2008 with the realized price of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,476.09).
