Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Scenes From William Cowper'S 'The Task' (1785): A Moonlit Winter Landscape With 'Crazy Kate' At Rest On A Track; And A Boy Stringing A Bow by Thomas Barker for GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,752.93). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Pictures at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Barker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Roman Capriccio With Figures, The Colosseum Beyond in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 23,300.00 (€ 29,704.21).
