Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2005 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel with The Polar Sale, which included the work Fingo wood carrier by Thomas Baines. The price achieved of GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,692.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Baines achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Eastern Cataracts of the Victoria Falls in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 574,750.00 (€ 675,183.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion Exploration and Travel with The Polar Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fingo wood carrier von Thomas Baines zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.560,00 (€ 6.692,13) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Baines erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Eastern Cataracts of the Victoria Falls im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 574.750,00 (€ 675.183,19).
