In October 2015 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern & Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, which included the work Seated Woman by Chuah Thean Teng. The auction ended at the price of HKD 50,000.00 (€ 5,841.33), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of HKD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Chuah Thean Teng have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Gotong Royong in May 2016 with an auction result of HKD 325,000.00 (€ 37,563.99).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Oktober 2015 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Southeast Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Seated Woman von Chuah Thean Teng zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von HKD 50.000,00 (€ 5.841,33) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chuah Thean Teng auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Gotong Royong im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 325.000,00 (€ 37.563,99).
