Despite a disappointment, a good price for Tanomura Chikuden
This work of art by Tanomura Chikuden could be acquired at Christies in New York in March 2000 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Village by a stream, 1823 changed hands for USD 16,100.00 (€ 16,816.38) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Despite this disappointing result, Village by a stream, 1823 is the most expensive artwork by Tanomura Chikuden that we have observed at auction so far.
