The work Scholar in a pavillion in a landscape by Tanomura Chikuden was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Christies in New York in September 2003. It achieved a price of USD 4,541.00 (€ 2,752.12), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 51%. Admittedly, works by Tanomura Chikuden have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Village by a stream, 1823 in March 2000 with an auction result of USD 16,100.00 (€ 16,816.38).

Die Arbeit Scholar in a pavillion in a landscape von Tanomura Chikuden wurde im September 2003 in der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 4.541,00 (€ 2.752,12) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 51%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tanomura Chikuden auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Village by a stream, 1823 im März 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.100,00 (€ 16.816,38).
