In September 2003 Christies in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art, which included the work Scholars in a Chinese landscape with poem by Tanomura Chikuden. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,868.00 (€ 1,738.18), 43% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Tanomura Chikuden have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Village by a stream, 1823 in March 2000 with an auction result of USD 16,100.00 (€ 16,816.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 43 % übertroffen
Im September 2003 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Japanese and Korean Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Scholars in a Chinese landscape with poem von Tanomura Chikuden zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.868,00 (€ 1.738,18) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tanomura Chikuden auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Village by a stream, 1823 im März 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.100,00 (€ 16.816,38).
