Showa era (1926-1989), 1971-1983
A group of four etchings on paper, the first entitled Yamato no Asukamura nite (At Asuka Village in Yamato) and depicting a series of roofs, signed T. Ryōhei in Roman characters and dated '71 with edition of Artist's Proof 2/10; the second entitled Haru Chikashi (Spring is Near) and depicting a thatch and tile roof, signed T. Ryohei in Roman characters and dated '71 with edition of 64/100; the third entitled Warayane No. 19 (Straw Roof No. 19) and depicting an old farm house with a bicycle parked in front, signed T. Ryohei in Roman characters and dated '74 with edition of 74/100; the fourth entitled Haru Matsu Eda (Branches Waiting for Spring) and depicting the naked branches of a tree with a thatch and tile roof partially covered by snow in the background, signed T. Ryohei in Roman characters and dated '83 with edition of 87/150; all titles, signatures, dates, and edition numbers in pencil

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Four Etchings of Rural Japan by Tanaka Ryōhei was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of USD 892.50 (€ 874.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Tanaka Ryōhei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Showa era (1926-1989), dated 1986 and 1988 in November last year with an auction result of GBP 4,462.50 (€ 5,171.02).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Four Etchings of Rural Japan von Tanaka Ryōhei kam im Juli letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 892,50 (€ 874,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tanaka Ryōhei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Showa era (1926-1989), dated 1986 and 1988 im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.462,50 (€ 5.171,02).
