Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Care by Talbot Hughes was sold in the Victorian Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in December 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,143.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Talbot Hughes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sewing for victory, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 19,975.00 (€ 31,281.12).
