Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Gojunoto (Five-Storey Pagoda) by Takahashi Shōtei was sold in the From Harunobu to Hasui | Japanese Prints across the centuries auction at Bonhams in London in May this year. It changed hands for a price of GBP 896.00 (€ 1,042.50) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Takahashi Shōtei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Abalone diver, 1931.8 in September 2010 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 45,952.50).
