Auction result well in line with expectations
The work an elderly couple walking past the Kannon temple by Takahashi Shōtei was sold in the From Harunobu to Hasui | Japanese Prints across the centuries auction at Bonhams in London in May this year. The price achieved of GBP 768.00 (€ 893.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Takahashi Shōtei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Abalone diver, 1931.8 in September 2010 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 45,952.50).
