Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Gould Madonna, Madonna And Child With Saint Peter, Saint Francis And Six Saints Adorned By Two Patrons; Christ Blessing The Virgin In The Pinnacle by Taddeo Gaddi was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings, Part I auction at Christies in New York in April 2006. The price achieved of USD 598,400.00 (€ 474,017.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Taddeo Gaddi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A triptych: central panel: The Madonna and Child enthroned with Saints; wings: The Nativity with the Angel of the Annunciation; and The Crucifixion with Virgin Annunciate, which sold at auction in July 2011 for GBP 1,329,250.00 (€ 1,525,513.23).
