A top price for Taddeo Gaddi - as previously expected
In July 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings - Evening Sale, which included the work A triptych: central panel: The Madonna and Child enthroned with Saints; wings: The Nativity with the Angel of the Annunciation; and The Crucifixion with Virgin Annunciate by Taddeo Gaddi. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200,000.00 – 1,800,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,329,250.00 (€ 1,525,513.23) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, A triptych: central panel: The Madonna and Child enthroned with Saints; wings: The Nativity with the Angel of the Annunciation; and The Crucifixion with Virgin Annunciate is the most expensive artwork by Taddeo Gaddi that we have observed at auctions so far.
