A top price for Sugimura Jihei - as previously expected
In September 2002 Christies in New York held the auction A PRIVATE COLLECTION OF JAPANESE PRINTS AND PAINTINGS, which included the work Unknown by Sugimura Jihei. The price achieved of USD 35,850.00 (€ 36,289.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Unknown is the most expensive artwork by Sugimura Jihei that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im September 2002 führte Christies in New York die Auktion A PRIVATE COLLECTION OF JAPANESE PRINTS AND PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Unknown von Sugimura Jihei zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 35.850,00 (€ 36.289,10) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Unknown das teuerste Kunstwerk von Sugimura Jihei, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
