In September 2021 Christies held the auction Important Japanese Art, which included the work A Couple Making Love by Sugimura Jihei. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,318.91), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Sugimura Jihei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Unknown in September 2002 with an auction result of USD 35,850.00 (€ 36,289.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im September 2021 führte Christies die Auktion Important Japanese Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Couple Making Love von Sugimura Jihei zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.318,91) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sugimura Jihei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Unknown im September 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.850,00 (€ 36.289,10).
