Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Sugimura Jihei could be acquired at Christies in New York in March 2005 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work A Young Samurai, His Retainer And Two Beauties changed hands for USD 2,400.00 (€ 1,850.57) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sugimura Jihei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Unknown in September 2002 with an auction result of USD 35,850.00 (€ 36,289.10).
