In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Dear Keith: Works from the Personal Collection of Keith Haring, which included this untitled work by Stephen Sprouse. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,528.00 (€ 3,029.11), 41% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Stephen Sprouse have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Crucifixion in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 21,420.00 (€ 18,391.00).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Dear Keith: Works from the Personal Collection of Keith Haring durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Stephen Sprouse zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 3.528,00 (€ 3.029,11) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Stephen Sprouse auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Crucifixion im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 21.420,00 (€ 18.391,00).
