The work Tondo II by Stephen Cox was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2017. It achieved a price of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,636.78), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 50%. Admittedly, works by Stephen Cox have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Turmeric Throng in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 7,767.50 (€ 12,014.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Tondo II von Stephen Cox kam im März 2017 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.636,78) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 50%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Stephen Cox auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Turmeric Throng im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.767,50 (€ 12.014,56).
