In August 2003 Christies in Sydney held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Untitled (Hephaestus) by Stanislaus Ivan Rapotec. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 25,850.00 (€ 15,270.94), 44% above the upper estimate. With this result, Untitled (Hephaestus) is even the most expensive work of art by Stanislaus Ivan Rapotec that we have observed at auctions so far.
