Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Forge by Stanhope Alexander Forbes was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2018. The price achieved of GBP 37,500.00 (€ 41,778.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Stanhope Alexander Forbes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Quarry Team in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 237,500.00 (€ 266,289.72).
