Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Sophie Calle could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in July 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Ginny Williams Collection: Part II auction, the work The Cats (From Autobiographies) changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,369.97) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sophie Calle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sleepers (Les dormeurs) in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 218,500.00 (€ 162,417.30).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sophie Calle konnte im Juli 2020 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion The Ginny Williams Collection: Part II wechselte die Arbeit The Cats (From Autobiographies) für USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.369,97) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sophie Calle erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Sleepers (Les dormeurs) im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 218.500,00 (€ 162.417,30).
