Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Mountain Visiting In Spring by Song Xu was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 30,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 138,600.00 (€ 15,351.08). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Song Xu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Scholar under Locust in June 2015 with an auction result of HKD 2,440,000.00 (€ 282,194.73).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Mountain Visiting In Spring von Song Xu im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 30.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 138.600,00 (€ 15.351,08) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Song Xu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Scholar under Locust im Juni 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 2.440.000,00 (€ 282.194,73).
