Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Horizontal Lines by Sol LeWitt was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session auction at Christies in New York in May 2016. The price achieved of USD 11,875.00 (€ 10,664.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sol LeWitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wavy Brushstrokes in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Horizontal Lines von Sol LeWitt wurde im Mai 2016 in der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 11.875,00 (€ 10.664,57) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19).
