Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Black Cubes by Sol LeWitt was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session auction at Phillips in New York in May 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 112,500.00 (€ 100,905.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Sol LeWitt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Wavy Brushstrokes in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Black Cubes von Sol LeWitt wurde im Mai 2019 in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 100.905,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19).
