In the Brian Sewell - Critic & Collector auction, the work Ophelia sold for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 50,667.93) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Quiller Orchardson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'The Queen of the Swords' A dozen cutlasses, selected hastily from an old arm-chest, and whose rusted hue bespoke how seldom they left the sheath, armed the same number of young Zetlanders, with whom mingled six maidens, led by Minna Troil; and the, which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 83,650.00 (€
