Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh by William MacTaggart was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2009. The price achieved of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 9,777.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William MacTaggart - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Gauldrons, Machrihanish, which sold at auction in October 2005 for GBP 26,400.00 (€ 38,932.02).
