Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study For The Matriarch by William Dobell was sold in the THE BLEASEL COLLECTION OF AUSTRALIAN PAINTINGS auction at Christies in Melbourne in March 2005. It changed hands for a price of AUD 22,705.00 (€ 13,900.66) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of AUD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Dobell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 816,000.00 (€ 487,948.98).

Die Arbeit Study For The Matriarch von William Dobell wurde im März 2005 in der Auktion THE BLEASEL COLLECTION OF AUSTRALIAN PAINTINGS bei Christies in Melbourne versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von AUD 22.705,00 (€ 13.900,66) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Dobell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 816.000,00 (€ 487.948,98).
