Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2005 Christies in Sydney held the auction THE JOHN WILLIAMS COLLECTION, which included the work A London Bridge (Hungerford Bridge) by William Dobell. The price achieved of AUD 28,680.00 (€ 18,178.91) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Dobell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 816,000.00 (€ 487,948.98).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2005 führte Christies in Sydney die Auktion THE JOHN WILLIAMS COLLECTION durch, in der auch die Arbeit A London Bridge (Hungerford Bridge) von William Dobell zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 28.680,00 (€ 18.178,91) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Dobell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Opera House, Sydney Harbour im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 816.000,00 (€ 487.948,98).
