Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The cobblers: Portrait of a man, small full-length, reclining reading a newspaper by a cobblers by William Allan was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,178.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Allan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dick Whittington And His Cat in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 36,000.00 (€ 53,422.19).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.160,00 (€ 3.178,59) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
