Despite a disappointment, a good price for Richard Colt Hoare
When the work Pembroke Castle, South Wales by Richard Colt Hoare was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,008.39). Despite this disappointing result, Pembroke Castle, South Wales is the most expensive artwork by Richard Colt Hoare that we have observed at auction so far.
