Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Lawrence Alma-Tadema achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2016. In the European Art auction, the work British fortune'S Favourite sold for USD 564,500.00 (€ 533,654.76) - well above the upper estimate of USD 200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lawrence Alma-Tadema achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British the Finding Of Moses in November 2010 with an auction result of USD 35,922,500.00 (€ 27,556,382.33).
