This artwork by William Hamo Thornycroft achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2004. In the Victorian Pictures including The John H. Schaeffer auction, the work The Mower sold for GBP 21,510.00 (€ 32,013.32) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Hamo Thornycroft - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Teucer, which sold at auction in December 2014 for GBP 60,000.00 (€ 77,239.90).

Für andere Arbeiten von William Hamo Thornycroft mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Teucer beobachtet, die im Dezember 2014 für GBP 60.000,00 (€ 77.239,90) versteigert wurde.
